Tesco compliance elearning revolutionised by Sponge

An innovative approach to compliance training at global retail giant, Tesco, created by leading elearning company, Sponge, has won a major award.

Learning Leap, which deals with important topics such as competition law and the Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP), won bronze at the Elearning Awards – the equivalent of the Oscars for the elearning industry.

The ground-breaking campaign was recognised in the category of Best use of e-learning to ensure compliance with external regulations or internal policies.

Sponge created bite-size elearning modules supported by a dynamic leader board and campaign of reminders and refreshers.

The Elearning Awards judges said:


“The highly original visual LMS integration approach give learners a thirst for competition that encourages completion and compliance.”


“A ‘motivational microsite’ encouraged elearning completion by provide a learner journey that makes great use of landing pages, date, email marketing techniques and LMS functionality and, in particular, competition to create a buzz around some solid elearning.

More than 4,000 staff completed Learning Leap successfully in just sixweeks.

Tesco’s Regulatory, Ethics & Compliance Director, David Ward, said:

Learning Leap has revolutionised compliance training at Tesco, delivering amazing results and feedback from our staff.

Sponge was also named Elearning Development Company of the Year at the Elearning Awards - the highest accolade in the industry.

The awards ceremony took place at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London’s Mayfair on November 6.
